I don’t know. Maybe. I know that a more universal, more solid net of insurances against dramatic events and unemployment, would give time to people to retrain or move to more active cities. But I feel like these “individual” risks are not at the same scale as an entire profession like trucking disappearing overnight.
For example, I think Nicolas Colin was suggesting at some point that Uber would be more than happy to contribute to a fund helping taxi drivers transition out, in exchange for removing legal roadblocks. I hope I’m not mis-representing your thoughts Nicolas.
Anyway, my point was that arrangements at the level of the industrial sector will probably figure in a “grand bargain”, if we manage to strike one…
