Hi Greg, thanks for taking the time to respond! I must start to say that 1) I think a weather notification service as a Messenger app IS a good and useful idea 2) I wish Poncho to be that service of reference, and I have it installed on my account 3) You’re taking flak but it’s because you’re a pioneer, and that’s courageous.
Still, I don’t see how your reply dispute my opinion. You’re saying that since you had little time to prep, you chose to focus on making it an interesting character to play and chat with. I’m saying that because you chose the route of having to understand user input and respond in witty ways, your task became harder, therefore you had too little time to prep.
Let’s try to be constructive with an example. I wanted to know the weather forecast in Paris for the week:
- I said “weather Paris” (default guess) but it was the current weather
- So I said “help” and the examples were not helpful
- So I guessed “forecast Paris” but it was for the day
- Then “Weekly forecast Paris” and I got what I was looking for
This is a very quick example of me guessing the right commands, vs being guided.
This being said, afterwards, I set up my location, my notification settings, so that’s working, and the buttons also provide a good UX. There is clearly not a huge gap between where the product is, and where it should be to provide a great service.
